Why is that after reading a book or watching a movie it's easy to say, "I would've ended it like this" or "They shoulda, coulda, blah, blah..."?! I'm DEFINITELY Guilty!!! I've even gone so far as to say "Aaawwwwwwwww, I could've written that!" And now that I'm actually writing a book...well, let's just say, I have all of these ideas in floating in my brain, and all of these unfinished stories in different notebooks! I keep saying one day I'm will be a published author...one day you'll read one MY books and make your own critical reviews...one day...but as far as RIGHT NOW?! THIS MOMENT?! I HAVE NOTHING! I am I thinking too hard, or not enough?! JUST NEED TO VENT! MAYBE SCREAM EVEN!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....much better :-)

How did I miss this? WAHIDA CLARK INTERVIEW
Sunday, August 8, 2010
There was a time when I would've preferred the movie over the book--the 7th an 8th grades to be exact! I hated reading assignments. We were made to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "A raisin in the Sun". Luckily, I convinced my parents to rent the movie for both. No doubt in my mind (at that time, anyway) that the movie was better!
The last book-turned-movie I've seen was PRECIOUS. I had NO CLUE what the movie was even about based on the previews shown on TV. Then I found out that it was based on the novel PUSH, by Sapphire. This peaked my interest even more. I made my way to the local Walmart (yes! They have a black fiction section!) and purchased PUSH. I only had limited time to read it because PRECIOUS was to be released in a few days. I finished in 2 days! Each and every page was filled with conflict, drama and emotion. I even shed a tear or two! There's no way I could even fathom the things the little girl had to endure. The movie however did not leave the same effect. Don’t get me wrong, Gabourey Sidibe and MoNique both did a TREMENDOUS job. They definitely captured the emotion in the book. Many things in the movie were implied. Things you would have never known UNLESS you read the book. I don’t want to give away too much if you haven’t seen the movie or read the book, but I’ll say this: Sixteen years later, my mind has changed…NO DOUBT…THE BOOK IS BETTER!!!!
