Of course it's Black History Month, and the trend that I've noticed this month on most social sites and blogs is to post a fact that occured "on this day" in history. Well yesterday, 02/16/2011 while surfing the net I noticed this "Clearly nothing of substance happened today, all I could find was that Wilt Chamberlain scored 30,000 points" Whaaaat??? That's crazy! So I started posting all kinds of good facts and I wanted to share them with you also. 1857 marks the year that Frederick Douglass became the president of Freedman Bank and Trust. In 1923 Bessie Smith recorded her first song "Down Hearted Blues" and it ended up selling 800,000 copies. Joe Frazier became the heavyweight champion OF THE WORLD!...THE WORLD CRAIG!!!! lol and that was in 1970 against Jimmy Ellis. Our people have contributed so much and we don't know or recognize that for one reason or another.

I wasn't going to join in all the black history hoopla only because I didn't just want to post all of this great info THIS month and fail to acknowledge other great accomplishments of our people the remainding months of the year. I since have decided to share and post because I see now that some people are actually convinced that we didn't share or contribute anything of substance...we are more than athletes, comedians and actresses, things we use on daily basis were INVENTED my our people (stop light and gas mask, Garret A. Morgen; the ironing board, Sarah Boone; pressing comb and hair care products, Madame CJ Walker, just to name a few)OUR PRESIDENT IS BLACK!!!!

We have done and can do ANYTHING! With God anything is possible...and we need to know it!
